How We Started Barbequing Meat
A long Time Ago in a Galaxy Far, Far Away…
Okay it wasn’t that long ago and not that far away. It was a period of unrest as there was a need for some spectacular BBQ in Lansing. Pitmaster Sean Johnson liked to make delicious barbeque on the weekends for his family and friends and decided he needed to share his marvelous eats with the good people of Lansing. He started with a 30 seat restaurant and added a bar the next year. Tate Skiba was one of the first employees that joined the team and he shares Sean’s passion for eclectic eats and barbeque meats. And let’s face it, every Han needs a Chewbacca.
Meat BBQ has grown since then but you will always find a laid-back atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and freshly made from scratch food and drinks. Our army of cooks are cooking every day, from scratch. Our cocktails and drinks are handmade with fresh juices. We serve until we run out, so make sure to come early.

Do you have gluten free options?
We do not have a gluten-free menu. We are also not a gluten-free kitchen so we cannot 100% guarantee that there is no cross-contamination.
Gluten Free Proteins, Sides, Sauces : Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs, Smoked Turkey, Beans, Cole Slaw, Jalapeno Slaw, Mashed Potatoes, Spicy Creamed Corn, Potato Salad, Broccoli Salad, Jazzy Q Sauce, Hot Garlic Sauce, and Vinn #666 Sauces.
Do you take reservations?
We do not accept reservations or call ahead seating. It is a first come first serve basis. This is due to the availability of meat and our chance to sell out and close early on extremely busy days.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes we sell gift cards in-house or we can ship them to you for a $5 fee.
